The Battle of Shrewsbury took place six hundred and twenty-one years ago this week, on July 21, 1403.
The site is now peaceful farmland, with a footpath around the perimeter much loved by dog-walkers, a church built to commemorate the dead, and pylons striding across the Shropshire landscape.
