‘As soon as I came through the door, I knew I’d done the right thing’

Every Wednesday afternoon, the Acorn Singers gather in Hadley Community Centre to rehearse, chat and enjoy each other’s company.

‘Really passionate about sharing the joy with others’

The group was set up by Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin, and in recent months it’s grown in both numbers and ambition. Now, one of its members has rewritten a favourite number from Cornish folk group Fishermen’s Friends, with the band’s approval, as a tribute to his home county of Shropshire.

‘You live to come here’

You can hear from some of the singers about what the group means to them and how singing makes them feel, and hear them in action, in this episode of Hello You the Shropshire podcast.
