Did you see Shrewsbury turn blue on Thursday night?
Thursday - April 11 - was World Parkinson’s Day. Parkinson’s UK wanted to raise awareness by arranging for prominent buildings to be illuminated in their signature blue.
The Shrewsbury branch of Parkinson’s UK asked celebrated, locally-based new-media light and sound artist Andy McKeown to make it happen on some familiar buildings around the town centre.
You might have seen previous installations and projections by Andy on the Market Hall, the Museum & Art Gallery, the Flaxmill Maltings and elsewhere.
Andy mounted his portable display equipment on a pushchair, and accompanied by a couple of dozen supporters of Parkinson’s UK, walked a circular route around Shrewsbury, lighting up various buildings in blue, and projecting the Parkinson’s UK logo.
I was very kindly asked to join the walk, to take photographs of the illuminations. I hope you find them interesting. If you do, share this post?
