Bench Dates - Corrections!
Yes, I'm an idiot ... Also: Shrewsbury heritage controversy* in the next episode!
(This is what happens when I try to do too much in a short space of time, and my brain isn’t up to it.)
Yesterday, I published Hello You 39: A Sunny Shropshire Summer Soundscape. I hope you at least enjoyed the audio!
Alongside it, I was very excited to tell you about the dates for the next few Bench sessions, where I sit on a bench in a public place, and record conversations with whoever else sits on the bench with me. It might be you, coming along because you know I’ll be there and you have something to say, a story to tell or a topic you want to talk about. It might be a complete stranger who just happens to sit next to me. What’s on their mind? What is their story?
But like the utter toolbelt I am, I put the wrong bloody dates on it. FFS. Sorry.
So, this time with the right dates, here’s when and where I’ll be sitting on a bench over the coming weeks. Come and say hello?
Saturday May 25 (this Saturday!) - the bench outside the Happy Bap café in Bishops Castle, 12:30pm
Monday May 27 (Bank Holiday Monday!) - a bench at Lyth Hill, 11am
Friday May 31 - in The Square in Much Wenlock, 1pm
Tuesday June 11 - in Mumma’s Emporium on Shrewsbury’s Pride Hill, 12:30pm
Friday June 21 - by the Weir in Shrewsbury, 1pm
Tuesday July 2 - one or more of the benches on Shrewsbury’s St Mary’s Place, 1pm
Friday July 12 - at the top of Shrewsbury’s Pride Hill, 1pm
Sorry again (kicks bin).
Anyway, now you’ve got the correct dates, I hope I’ll see you on a bench somewhere, sometime!
As always, feel free to comment or message me, and share Hello You with your chums?
“It’s important for us in Shrewsbury to take charge of our own heritage”
That’s a quote from the interview in the next episode, Hello You 40, which will be with you at the end of this week. If you’re even remotely interested in Shrewsbury and Shropshire heritage, how we think about it, take care of it and decide what’s important, you’re really going to want to hear it.
I promise it’ll be topical (Sentinel!), informative and not a little controversial. Sharpen your commenting biro!
